Eric Clapton wanted a version of the Ferrari 458 Italia, so a design house did for him. All he had to do was pay $4.7 million.
The company is called Pininfarina. They came up with a "true one-off" called the SP12 EC. It has the heart of the real Ferrari, a 4.5-liter V8 engine that gives it 562 horsepower at 9,000 rpm.
At one point, Clapton wanted a V12 but got persuaded that the 458 would be more practical and flexible. It would also make the build cheaper and easier.
Clapton said it was one of the most satisfying things he's ever done.
He said: "There will never be anything like this again. As much as it's a beautiful, one-off thing, it still has to be used properly. It's like riding a horse. At some point you have to establish the relationships. So the truth is there might be a few dents along the way. It's going to happen. And I'm fine with that."
